Coverage Categories
Organize coverages by category for better reporting.
An award letter with twenty line items in random order is hard to read. The carrier's claims rep has to scroll back and forth to total up the dwelling figures, separate out contents, and figure out what to apply against which policy limit. A well-organized award groups coverages logically, with Dwelling items together, Other Structures together, and so on.
Categories are how that grouping happens automatically. When you tag a coverage with its category (Dwelling, Other Structures, Personal Property, Loss of Use, Other), the award letter template knows where to put it. The PDF comes out organized the same way every time without you having to manually sort items into the right buckets.
Categories also drive future reporting. If you want to know your average dwelling award, or what percentage of your cases involve ALE, the category tags are what make that math possible.
Standard Categories
| Category | Description |
|---|---|
| Dwelling | Structure and attached components |
| Other Structures | Detached buildings, fences |
| Personal Property | Contents and belongings |
| Loss of Use | Additional living expenses |
| Other | Miscellaneous coverages |
Using Categories
When adding coverages to your library, assign them to appropriate categories. This groups them logically in the award letter.
