Integrations: Required, Recommended, Optional

A three-tier breakdown of every AwardLettr integration so you know which to set up on day one and which to defer.

All roles

You'll learn

  • Which integrations are required to get value out of AwardLettr
  • Which are recommended and what you give up by skipping them
  • Which are fully optional and safe to defer
  • The difference between SignWell and SignNow (they are not the same product)
  • Whether you can add any integration later (yes)

You open Account → Integrations on day one and see nine different cards. Email, SignWell, Google Calendar, Outlook Calendar, Dropbox, OneDrive, Google Drive, CompanyCam, accounting webhook. Some are obviously important, some you have never heard of, and a couple have confusing names (SignWell vs SignNow is the classic). You want to connect what matters now and not waste an afternoon on things you do not need yet.

Connect everything blindly and you spin your wheels on cards you will never use. Connect nothing and you find out, mid-week, that you cannot send an award letter for signature because SignWell was never linked, or that the opposing appraiser booked over your dentist appointment because calendar busy time was never synced. Either way you waste time you cannot get back. The cure is a clear required vs recommended vs optional tier list so you know what to do today, what to do this week, and what to ignore until you actually have a reason.

This is for every new account on day one, and for existing users who want to audit whether they have left value on the table. Every integration is addable later with no penalty (cloud backups even backfill past documents), so the decision today is purely about sequencing.

SignWell, not SignNow

Two different products with confusingly similar names. AwardLettr integrates with SignWell only. If you signed up for SignNow by mistake, cancel it and create a SignWell account at signwell.com.

Tier 1: Required

These two should be done in your first session. Without them, core flows do not work or look unprofessional.

Email connection

What it does: sends outbound messages from your address. Skip cost: messages come from AwardLettr fallback domain, recipients flag as unfamiliar. Add later: yes, anytime.

SignWell (e-signatures)

What it does: routes award letters and panel declarations through SignWell for signing. Skip cost: cannot send documents for signature, period. Add later: yes, before your first award letter.

These pay for themselves quickly. Add them in week one if you can.

Calendar sync (Google or Outlook)

What it does: blocks booking slots when you are busy, and creates calendar events when inspections are confirmed. Skip cost: opposing appraisers can book over your existing meetings. Add later: yes, anytime.

One cloud backup

What it does: syncs your appraisal documents to Dropbox, OneDrive, or Google Drive. Skip cost: AwardLettr is your only copy. Add later: yes, with retroactive backfill of existing files.

CompanyCam

What it does: links a CompanyCam project to each appraisal so photos taken on site appear in the file. Skip cost: you manage photos in a separate app and upload them by hand. Add later: yes, photos backfill on first sync.

Calendar sync needs configuration

Connecting your calendar is not the whole job. After OAuth, open Account → Integrations → Calendar and select which calendars to read busy time from and which one to write events to. We have seen accounts connected with the settings undefined, so no sync happens.

Tier 3: Optional

Accounting webhook

What it does: sends invoice data to QuickBooks, Xero, or any N8N-style endpoint. Skip cost: you re-enter invoices into your accounting tool by hand. Add later: yes, retroactive for any invoice.

Additional cloud backups

What it does: lets you sync to a second cloud destination (e.g., Dropbox plus OneDrive). Skip cost: only one backup destination. Add later: yes.

All add later, no penalty

You will not lose anything by deferring an integration. Connections backfill cleanly: documents sync after the fact, photos appear on first project link, calendar events generate from existing inspections via the Sync All button.

Common pitfalls

  • Signing up for SignNow instead of SignWell. Different products, similar names.
  • Connecting Outlook calendar without configuring the sync settings, so events never sync.
  • Skipping cloud backup and only realizing the files are gone after a deletion.
