By area
Account settings follow you. If you move to a different workspace these settings come with you. Found under the avatar dropdown → Account, or in the sidebar.
- Profile (name, default representing party, email signature)
- Integrations (email, SignWell, calendar, cloud storage, CompanyCam, accounting webhook)
- Scheduling (working hours, max per day, availability zones)
- Activities and coverages
- Tags and tag automations
- Workflow (status update cadence defaults, message rules)
Workspace settings belong to the firm. If two staff log into the same workspace they see the same business profile and the same templates. Found under Settings in the sidebar.
- Business Profiles (branding + rate sheets)
- Document Templates (Carbone Word templates)
- Folder Templates (auto-generated folder structures)
- Workflow Messages (the message library used by automations)
- Carrier Contracts (per-carrier overrides including cadence)
- Custom Fields (appraisal-level custom fields)
- Invoice Recipients (saved bill-to entities)
- Email Log (every outbound message firm-wide)
- Billing (subscription, seats, invoices)
- Team (members and roles)
Per-appraisal settings only apply to one file. They override any account or workspace default for that file alone.
- Representing party for this file (overrides your default)
- Tags on this file
- Status (set in the header dropdown)
- Parties (carrier, adjuster, both appraisers, umpire)
- Custom field values (defined at workspace level, set per file)
- Invoice To (bill-to recipient for invoices on this file)
- Next status update due date (Status Updates tab)
- Notification recipients (CC list for outbound messages)
Worked example: status update cadence
Status update cadence is the classic "three places" setting and the source of the most tickets. Here is how the three layers interact.
| Layer | Where | When it wins |
|---|---|---|
| Account default | Account → Workflow → Status Updates | Used on every new appraisal unless overridden below. |
| Carrier override | Settings → Carrier Contracts → [carrier] | Used on any appraisal whose carrier matches. Overrides account default. |
| Per-appraisal date | Appraisal → Status Updates tab → "Next due" field | Wins over both. Set this when one file needs a different cadence than the rule says. |
Setting the date on the appraisal is authoritative
Common pitfalls
- •Looking for a personal setting under the workspace menu (or vice versa).
- •Changing status update cadence at the account level and being surprised that one carrier still pings on its own schedule.
