Tentative Inspection Holds

A tentative hold reserves a date and time on an appraisal before it is official. It is for the in-between moment: you have a time in mind, but you are still waiting on the opposing appraiser (or umpire) to agree to it. Setting a real inspection date sends calendar invites right away, which is too soon if the time isn't locked in yet. A hold reserves the slot on your booking calendar without telling anyone.

Placing a Hold

On the appraisal detail page, the panel inspection card and the umpire inspection card each show a "Place tentative hold" link whenever that card doesn't have a real date yet. Click it, pick a date and time, and click "Hold." Each card can carry one hold at a time, and a hold and a real date never exist on the same card together.

What It Looks Like

A placed hold shows as an amber "Tentative hold" row on the appraisal card, with the date, how many days it has been held, and Confirm and Release buttons. On your calendar, holds show up in amber so they are easy to tell apart from real, confirmed inspections at a glance: striped on desktop, and marked with a "HOLD" badge on mobile.

It Is Silent

Placing, moving, or releasing a hold never notifies anyone. It doesn't email the opposing appraiser, the umpire, or anyone else, and there is no message added to the case for them to see. It is purely a reservation on your own calendar while you work out the details.

Confirming a Hold

Once the time is actually agreed to, click "Confirm" on the hold. This makes it the official inspection date and does everything setting a real date normally does: it updates your calendar, sends the usual calendar invites, and moves the case forward the same way a manually entered date would. This is the one moment a hold becomes visible to anyone besides you.

Releasing a Hold

If the time falls through, click "Release." The hold is cleared, the slot opens back up for booking, and again, nobody is notified.
